Reflex Level Gauge
Reflex level gauges, also called prismatic level gauges, are widely used for accurate liquid level measurement in vessels. Their operation relies on the difference in refractive indices between vapor and liquid. Prism glass provides a clear and reliable reading by reflecting light differently depending on the presence of liquid. Areas without liquid reflect light as silver (“dry”), while liquid-filled areas appear black (“wet”). This color contrast creates a sharp delineation, ensuring easy and precise level detection.
These gauges can be installed vertically or in a tilt-view position for enhanced accuracy and reliability, making them valuable in various industries. They are cost-effective, easy to operate, and provide clear readings. However, they are unsuitable for applications requiring the detection of liquid interfaces, observation of liquid color, or handling corrosive substances like high-pressure steam or alkaline solutions without protective measures, such as mica or specialized shields.
